Modulus of Elasticity
The slope of the linear region of the stress-strain curve — a measure of stiffness, not strength.
Also called Young’s modulus, it relates stress to strain below the proportional limit. A high modulus means the material deforms little under load.
It is routinely confused with strength. Strength describes the stress a material can carry before yielding or fracturing; stiffness describes how much it deflects on the way there. A material can be very stiff and still fail at a modest load.
