Fluid Mechanics
Bernoulli Equation
A relation trading pressure head, velocity head and elevation head along a streamline.
The Bernoulli equation states that for steady, incompressible, frictionless flow along a single streamline, the sum of pressure head, velocity head and elevation head is constant. Speeding a fluid up therefore drops its pressure, and raising it costs pressure or speed.
Its conditions matter more than its algebra. Friction, a pump, a turbine, or compressibility each invalidate it, and exam questions test whether you notice.
